Children’s Ministry Leaders Track

This year we will offer nine breakouts with three tracks:

  Preschool/nursery issues,

Children’s ministry 101 (for church leaders getting started with children’s ministry or wanting to know the value of it), and

Children’s ministry outside the box (for established children’s programs looking to rethink their mental models).

Our overarching theme this year is practicality. Our breakout leaders have been given the challenge to present practical ideas and skills that church leaders can go home and implement immediately.

Session 1

What The Mid-Atlantic District Can Offer You

Leaders: District Children’s Council This session includes a meet and greet where your children’s leaders can meet the District children’s council and learn about what the District offers with regards to children’s ministry (Children’s Camp, Quizzing, Caravan Campout, Missions, Family Camp, scholarships).

Session 2

Nursery/Preschool 101

Leader: Judy Carney Nursery and Preschool environments are a critical component of children’s ministry. For parents they are an entry point in the church where first impressions can make all the difference. For children, these environments give a first look at the God who made them and loves them. In this session, Pastor Judy Carney will pour out over 13 years of experience in working with Children and Families to help you develop a vision for your nursery and preschool ministry.

Getting Great Volunteers that Stick

Leader: Janelle Beiler Recruiting, equipping, and keeping great volunteers can be one of the biggest challenges faced by children’s ministry leaders. What attracts a great volunteer? What are the best recruiting practices? How do you effectively train and equip volunteers and create an effective and passionate team around you? In this breakout, Pastor Janelle will wrestle with these questions and more to help you create a vibrant volunteer team that will transform your children’s ministry environment.

Teach with the End in Mind

Leader: Ajay Vyas From the first day a child enters your preschool ministry environment do you have a plan for what you want them to learn and become by the time they graduate from high school? Does your preschool ministry understand the vital importance of youth ministry and does your youth pastor know where the nursery even is? In this session we will explore the critical importance of breaking down church silos in order to create an effective family ministry team which speak into each others ministries, fades the lines of programming, and effectively works together to focus on developing kids into young men and women on fire for God.

Session 3

Storytelling for Preschoolers

Leader: Judy Carney Okay you've got a room full of preschoolers. Help! Now what do you do? In this breakout, Pastor Judy Carney will unpack the keys to successful storytelling and object lessons for preschoolers. You will learn practical ways to equip your leaders, engage and communicate with young children, and make your preschool environment spiritually effective and exciting.
